WOW!  I just received my strap and I only had a few minutes available, but it was enough time to put on the strap locks and test her out.  Great strap!  The best straps I had before were Moody's, and nothing against them, they are great straps, but yours are on another level.  I can't believe how soft and pliable it already is, the Schaller preped holes made it SO much easier to install the strap locks and the overall comfort is amazing.

When I received and opened the box, I expected to be pleased with the workmanship and artistry.  What I experienced was so far beyond that, it is difficult to put into words. This piece is like nothing I've ever seen before. The level of attention to detail and craftsmanship is beyond anything else I've experienced in leather work.

I've owned a lot of straps over the 29 years I've been playing bass guitar and they've always been a functional tool, a simple accessory that just needed to function properly.  I've owned plenty of fine straps from some fine makers.

This piece is different.  It is truly a work of art.  Beyond the deep personal significance that the lettering has, this strap shows that you personally care about the customer.  It demonstrates that you clearly take the time not only in crafting the strap but also to reflect on the significance of what is inscribed.  It is very evident that you went to great lengths to craft not only the inscription but to precisely place it as well. Received my 50's Style strap and I'm blown away!  Your input on color and buckle was extremely valuable.  The strap is a perfect match for the vintage and sunburst colors of the guitar; the brass buckle is the perfect compliment to the guitar's hardware; and of course the workmanship is meticulous, exact and refined.
I never gave much thought to straps before, although I've been playing for 50 years.  A nylon strap was good enough.  However, now at this late stage, I've discovered that a quality crafted strap enhances the look of the guitar and creates a more pleasurable and satisfying playing experience.  You enjoy the guitar more and you play better.
It doesn't matter how much you spend on your guitar - it's valuable to you.  So I did myself, and the guitar, a favor and had an appropriate and honorable strap made to go with it.

You can't find a better made leather strap than a Brookwood.

My much anticipated strap arrived today.  It is even more than I had hoped for.  The strap is stunning.  As with fine music, attention to detail and perfect execution is the difference between art and noise.  The strap you created for me is art.  I greatly appreciate that you took time to answer my questions and I especially appreciate that you made suggestions to help me get what I wanted.  Once all of that was decided, you built a one of a kind strap that is exactly what I envisioned and hoped it would be.
I had previously wondered why anyone would pay for a custom strap.  The answer became obvious as soon as I strapped up one of my guitars.  The strap has great balance, far exceeding any other strap I have ever used.  The attention to detail is second to none.  Stitching is immaculate, conchos are perfectly centered, and the straplocks fit perfectly.  It is extremely comfortable whether used with a very light guitar like my PRS Hollowbody II or a very heavy guitar like my old Les Paul Custom.  I think most guitarists know the differences between a low-grade instrument, and a high quality one.  Well, the same can be said for straps.  My Brookwood really is way better than my old mass produced straps. 
The strap you made is my first custom made strap, but it will not be my last.  I use quite a number of guitars in my work with Supernal Endgame.  They just got a facelift.  I have a photo shoot coming up for the next Supernal Endgame album (scheduled for a spring 2013 release).  I still have to choose what guitar to take to the shoot, but I know what strap I'll be sporting.  I'll be wearing my Brookwood.  Since we have never met face to face, I'll be easy to identify in the photos.  I'll be the guy wearing the good looking strap.

A WORD ABOUT STRAPS


A number of years ago, I had an elderly native american statesman and jewelry maker in New Mexico make me five "heart with wings" pins. They were cast out of sterling silver, mother of pearl and blood stone. I like to feel that winged heart over my heart when I play. It is very sentimental and reminds me intuitively of things which are sacred to me. I have always used these pins on my straps but the clips holding them on always fell off and got lost. I was so thankful to find out about the ideal guitar straps handmade by Bob at Brookwood Leather. Above are the two straps he made for me. Bob and I came up with a great solution, which was to bend the pins over and sew the back lining layer of leather right over the pins so they can't come out.

Before I discovered Brookwood, I have always thought that my bass straps were a compromise. I had a number made by custom leather crafter's over the years, but when the straps came back I was always disappointed. The problem may be that custom leather shops - as good as they may be at their craft - don't always have the knowledge and insight to know the subtle features that need to be part of a quality world-class bass strap.

It may seem like a simple process on the surface, but like most everything, the devil is in the details. I don't like adjustable straps, my strap length doesn't change from bass to bass. This eliminates about 95% of the straps you find in the stores. I finally stumbled on to the Brookwood Leather web site by accident one day, and I couldn't be happier with my bass strap situation.

I am sure you will appreciate the quality and durability of the custom straps created by Brookwood. Bob is a genuine craftsman and there is no end to the detail and level of customization he will provide for you. He has a great website with a comprehensive batch of photos which frame his leather designs here.

Bob , this is the most amazing guitar strap I’ve ever seen !  You produce an absolute work of art my friend.  The leather is wonderfully supple after your treatment and the tan lining is as soft as a suede windscreen cloth .  I assembled the Schaller strap locks and eagerly attached it to that rather heavy LP mahogany plank . The weight on my shoulder just “disappeared” with your strap . You make a substantially impressive leather strap Bob !  Christine was most impressed with your attention to detail too ; and then watched your

Wow!  I had no idea from the picture of the heft and luxury of the hide. The dark russet is perfect. I placed it on the Lakland and played for an hour. I found myself pausing to glance at it and touch it in between tunes. I eventually picked up my usual XxXxxxxx vintage style to compare and the XxXxxxxx seemed cheap and cardboard-like in comparison. *

I'm now a Brookwood believer and convert. The quality of materials and craftsmanship is pervasive throughout the piece. Keep up the stellar work.

I received your strap today. Words cannot describe how perfect it fit on my Martin DCX1E. The keyholes are a perfect fit. The one-piece strap was definitely the way to go on this one. The two-inch strap is just enough support to be firm across my back, but give me enough room to move around with the guitar. I cant say enough.
Once my wife stops complaining, Ill be back for a strap for my Les Paul. That one will be shorter, for sure. I wont need the extra five inches to go around the underside of the neck.

I don't know how to say this without possibly offending you so I am
just gonna say it.

This strap is ten times better than I thought it was going to be. I
don't mean to imply that I doubted your workmanship, I just never expected it to be this good looking and comfortable. I have always had problems with other straps because they are uncomfortable at the shoulder area.

This thing kicks ass in EVERY way!!!! Thank you so much. I may be
getting another Les Paul. If I do, expect another order.

Hey Bob. How are you? I trust all is well.

Hey I was just putting strap locks and buttons on my Les Pauls and
Heritage 535 and got to thinking..."Hey Bob didn't sign my strap" As I was
putting the first strap lock on the buckle end of the beauty you did
for me, I saw the "To Bill ~ Bob" insignia you did for me. I have to say,
the subtle manner in which you added it is First Class all the way. I
dig it. This strap is soooo fricking awesome that I have decided to put
strap locks on all of my guitars so that I can use it with them all
until I can have you make one for each. I will need another for my newest
Les Paul, Heritage, Modulus Graphite Blackknife, Godin, Tele, and
lastly the Composite Acoustic Legacy acoustic. So... as soon as I can set
aside the extra cash, I will be ordering them. Probably best to order
one at a time huh?

Anyway... I just wanted to send you this contact. Thanks so much for my
strap. I love it. It's starting to break in perfectly and lose some of
the rigidity but not a lot which is what I want. This thing is exactly
what I had envisioned.

I own a Brookwood strap and I can only say it is dripping with attitude
and breaking in nicely! You owe it to yourself to get one as they are
well made and should last a lifetime!

The strap goes perfect with the guitar, the handwritten note together
with Ron's card too :o). Both reside in the guitar case ... and the
strap is attached to the guitar. So glad I decided to send you my
business, really been a pleasure on all accounts. The strap is just
great, really have a handmade vibe ... eventho the seams are straight
as a vistle ... everything is really cool, beyond my expectations.
Eventho I paid three times what I have done for me Minotaur Old Rocker
straps, this is more than worth it. Cut to lenght ... everything is
just peachy :o). Never thought I could be this excited over a guitar
strap. Just the extra touch it gives to the guitar.

You have a good one! I take your advice to heart .. and I always plays
like I mean it ... if we aren't what is the point in playing :o).

I just got a new product that I am amped about! It is a guitar strap. The most comforable yet strongest strap I have used thus far. I played a 3 hour gig with this thing the other night and I could not even feel the guitar hanging on my shoulder! What a cool strap. It is made of nice thick leather too so I can see this thing lasting me decades. I am a very small person and this thing came in the exact size I need. I was blown away by that as well. I can't even find shirts to fit me correctly.

I got it from Brookwood Leather. Bob is a very cool chap indeed. He really has a passion for making these things and it shows. I talked to him on the phone about them and then the next thing I know, it is at my house!

I think we really overlook the importance of our straps that we use. This became apparant to me immediately. I have played with a Jodi Head strap for the last 10 years and it was ok. I kept it just because. I don't know why really. I never really thought about whether or not it was comfortable. Well, I strapped on Bob's product and VOILA. I am a happy camper. I wish I could say it made me play better, I still sucked. ; ^ )
